OUR HISTORY
  1. Dockside Seafood was established in October of 2009. The company began with only one employee, Dominick Macchiarella, with no trucks and no warehouse. By the end of 2010, the company’s sales had grown to the point where it could no longer operate from its location in Carolina and moved to Popaco Enterprises, a storage facility in Bayamon.

  1. Taking advantage of the existing demand for an additional fresh fish importer in the local market, in 2011 the company began importing fresh fish from the east coast of the US. All products were flown in daily and delivered the same day. Adding fresh fish to the already diverse frozen seafood items helped increase the value of the company’s offerings, setting the benchmark to expand into fresh meat, pork and poultry.

  1. In 2011, the opportunity of acquiring the present facility became a reality and in January 2012 the move was finalized.  The company quickly established the processing area, which at the time could only be used for seafood because of existing license and permits. Regardless of the handicap, we began packing the salted fish programs for Delca Distributors, the main supplier of salted fish on the island. With that account we were on our way to grow our offerings in other areas of food processing and packing services.

  1. Later in 2014 the company acquired its UDSA license, transforming us into a federally inspected facility. This allowed us to further expand our offerings and added additional assurance that all the products sold passed all federal food safety guidelines. It also helped the company become the second largest fresh fish supplier to the restaurant industry on the island.  In November 2014 we created A.N.A. Packing Inc. as a subsidiary corporation to Dockside Seafood Inc.

  1. The company has continued investing heavily in updating its facility and capacities by installing a new cooler adding square footage to our fresh beef storage and non-fresh seafood itemsWe acquired an ozone generating ice machine to help preserve fresh fish longer, the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico and acquired a Modified Atmosphere Packing Machine (MAP) that is used for packing and preserving fresh fish. We created two private labels: “Ocean Fresh” for seafood and “Farm House” for beef, pork and poultry. These efforts will build brand recognition for the products the company sells. We also became members of the “Hecho in Puerto Rico” association so that the products we pack and process carry the recognition of local manufacturing.
